You had me at Dolly Parton | Jolene’s Vintage Wares
Shopping vintage is a sustainable way to satisfy the retail therapy itch in all of us, without adding to problems our planet is facing. These gorgeous, usable, and decorative delights have been designed and built to last and won’t cost you a small fortune. Mass produced goods will try to imitate, but you just can’t beat the original vintage. So much of today’s designs lack the originality and attention to detail that gives vintage items their charm. Joeley is a local to our new ‘hood in Waverley where we’re opening Neighbourhood Cellars Waverley, the latest in our independent liquor retail stores. The sustainable approach to her side hustle is carried right through to the way she packages up your goods too.
The glistening pearl on our spirits shelves | mother of pearl vodka
Mother of Pearl Vodka
The Australian vodka sector has been shaken up with the arrival of a new, premium grape-based vodka. In Australia, Mother of Pearl Vodka landed earlier this year on store shelves and behind bars and will soon be available in international hotels and airport lounges.
Mother of Pearl Vodka is distilled from premium Australian Pinot Gris grapes from Victoria's world-class Mornington Peninsula and South Australia's Limestone Coast, unlike most vodkas that are made from grain, corn or starch-like potatoes. With a mature multi-level distillation process and a unique filtration process, the grapes are picked late to ensure a smooth neutral base and a subtle creaminess.
Mother of Pearl Vodka has been created by Australian entrepreneurs Nic Hancock and Nicola Thompson-Hancock with great care and attention to detail.

i.bondi - a waggish small business borne from life in lockdown in the neighbourhood
i.bondi is a partnership between long-time buddies Davor Pavlovic & Paul McNeil. Both Davor, a Bondi resident and Paul the ex “Mayor of Bondi” who recently moved to Tasmania are fans of t-shirts, art and Bondi, so it wasn’t too much of a stretch when they decided to combine the three things together to create their Bondi-centric t-shirt biz.

meet Marcio Brito of Salvador Coffee Roasters Syd.
Marcio Brito | Salvador Coffee Roasters Sydney
We first met Marcio when we were selecting the coffee we would be selling at our Potts Point café/deli/bottleshop. Salvador Coffee Roasters Sydney was a brand we knew for its excellent taste, and he was invited in to talk about his product when we were still in the shop fitout phase. It’s impossible not to be drawn into Marcio’s energy and bubbly personality. His enthusiasm for life and what he does is palpable. Selecting a coffee brand that was already popular at Kings Cross weekend markets, coupled with our desire to work with a local small business made the decision simple. Potts Point Providore has fast grown a reputation for some of the best coffee in the area, and they also sell his speciality blends for coffee enthusiasts to take home – the team will grind the beans for those who don’t own their own grinder.

Love Spool
Not long after our last e-news went out, we got a phone call from one of our regulars from The Spot Cellars, Colum O’Leary. He seemed a little nervous making contact, and once we got talking, he had our heart singing. Having seen our article on a local small business, he was proudly spruiking his wife’s new business, Love Spool and was wondering if Neighbourhood Cellars would be interested in spreading the word in our newsletter. His enthusiasm and support of what his wife Rachel has created, along with his warm, soft Irish accent were hard not to be drawn to! Supporting local small business and the communities we operate in is something we are dedicated to at Neighbourhood Cellars, and we are chuffed to introduce you to Love Spool and Rachel’s story.
Spring Picnics
Spring Picnics | The first hint of freedom from lockdown we had was being able to go on a picnic. Even though venues are open again, spring in Sydney means we can grab a bunch of friends, family, loved ones and the dog, and go to one of the many beautiful picnic spots that our great city has to offer. Picnics can be simple & relaxed, luxurious & decadent or as big or small as you desire. The choice is yours.

BILLY | LULU | TONY
In this newsletter, we feature this world first collaboration between Furniture Designer Tony Hurd of ALTONE Design and Lulu & Billy Cooley, Master Artists from Maruku Arts in Uluru. In late September 2019, Tony travelled to Alice Springs and took a road trip to Uluru & into Mutitjulu, the community where Billy & Lulu live and work, and are Directors of Maruku Arts. It was a unique opportunity to immerse himself in the rich culture & tjurkurpa (stories from the beginning) of the Anangu people and see firsthand the Maruku warehouse filled with punu by many artists from the region. Billy & Lulu invited him to spend an afternoon at their bush camp where Lulu was painting a Walka Board, and Billy was hand carving a Kali (desert boomerang) whilst they talked about country, family, the techniques they employ when creating their art, and the land they live on & belong to. The result is BILLY | LULU | TONY, a collection where the furniture is functional art with the punu artwork is an integral part of the piece.
